Superintendent

David Sotutu has been serving as the superintendent of the New Plymouth School District since July 2018. Prior to moving to New Plymouth, Dr. Sotutu was the superintendent/principal of the North Gem School District in Bancroft, ID. He has also served as an elementary school principal, federal programs director, 2nd grade teacher, reading specialist, and track coach in the Marsh Valley, Grace, North Gem, and Bonneville School Districts in Idaho, and as a 1st grade teacher in the Highline School District in Washington.
Dr. Sotutu holds degrees from Ricks College (A.A.S. in Men's Physical Education), Brigham Young University-Idaho (B.S. in Elementary Education), Grand Canyon University (M.Ed. in Educational Administration), Boise State University (Ed.S. in Executive Educational Leadership), and Northwest Nazarene University (Ph.D. in Educational Leadership). The focus of his graduate research at BSU, which he completed in the spring of 2018, was the age and conditions of school facilities across the state of Idaho. The focus of his doctoral research at NNU, which he completed in the spring of 2023, was building kindergarten readiness in rural communities.
