Grow Our Own Grant Program

Thanks to a grant from a charitable foundation, our school district has been able to implement a Grow Our Own program to help our current school district employees further their education and training and to help fill hard-to-fill positions within our school district. Based on the amount of funding that our school district receives for this program and the amount requested by applicants, the district will be able to provide grant funds for a number of district employees.

This grant will be a reimbursement for courses/training completed and/or credits earned that help an employee become fully certificated and/or qualified to fill positions in our school district. Grant recipients will need to provide receipts for tuition and fees paid and evidence that the courses/training were successfully passed. Additionally, for each school year that a district employee receives a Grow Our Own grant, the employee will commit to working for the school district for an additional two (2) school years. However, this grant does not require the school district to rehire the grant recipient each year. This could be due to changes in staffing/funding, not meeting certification requirements, not meeting evaluation criteria, etc.

The maximum amount that an applicant may request for the 2022-2023 school year (for classes/training completed July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023) is $5,250.

To be considered for the next round of grant approval selections, applications need to be submitted by Friday, March 31, 2023. Based on the number of applications and the amount of funding available, there may be additional rounds of grant approvals during this school year.
