From the desk of Mrs. Aguas: We had several very happy “walkers” who won helmets and bikes on May 9th. We want to thank every student who took the time to walk to school last Wednesday, emphasizing the benefits of healthy activities.

From the desk of Mrs. Arnzen:
As of May 10th, we will no longer be accepting lunchroom charges in preparation for the year’s end. Please take care of any outstanding charges by this time as well. If you have any questions regarding your child’s lunch balance, please contact the elementary kitchen. Thank you for your cooperation.

From the desk of Mrs. Nishizaki:
Dear Parents,
Just a reminder that all new students who register in the fall must have a copy of their certified birth certificate (not hospital copy) and a current immunization record. Immunization requirements for elementary students include: 5 doses of Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP), 2 doses of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), 4 doses of Polio, 3 doses of Hepatitis B, 2 doses of Varicella (Chickenpox), and 2 doses of Hepatitis A.

Uh,oh! The ants made it to Mrs. Aguas’ office!
She had to keep her promise of EATING HER LUNCH ON THE ROOF OF THE SCHOOL. Good going, AR Ants!

Now get to work on your 4th term AR goal.

School Business:
If any changes have been made to your phone numbers or address, please be sure to also make changes with the school office. Personal information needs to be correct in case of an emergency.

Please remember that the lane in front of the school is for picking up and dropping off students only. If you need to exit your car, you must park in the parking lot and walk your child in. No parking is allowed in the pickup/drop off lane at any time. Also, if you are parking in the parking lot, be sure not to park in the red fire lane.

It is very important for students to have good attendance. Students are only allowed 9 absence days per semester. After nine days absent, each absence must be documented and the attendance committee will review the situation and submit it to the school board for possible action by the Payette County Prosecutor. Parents of kindergarten students need to remember that each day absent for a kindergarten child counts as two absences.

Let the school office know if you change your phone number or home address. In cases of emergency, it is very important to have the correct information. Also, remember to send a note if your child’s after school plans will be different from normal. Only one note for routine changes needs to be sent and will be maintained in our files. Without a note from you regarding a change of plans, the student will be sent home by his or her usual means. If you need to call the office about a change, please call before 1:00 P.M. Students will not be called out of class after 3:00.

New technology is here!

New Plymouth Elementary has 30 new laptops on a rolling cart, featuring wireless connections. This cart can be moved to individual classrooms during the day for student use. We would also like to share the laptops with parents and students in the evenings. The library will be open from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Parents and students can come in and work on Study Island, Reading Eggs, and My Big Campus websites. The library is open to all students in the district. In addition, Mrs. Nichols will be available during Parent/Teacher conferences to teach kids and parents how to use the computers to get online.

Mrs. M/B’s class has been chosen to run a pilot project this year
to incorporate iPod Touches into the curriculum. Each student in the room is expected to
use his or her own iPod Touch to help with schoolwork and collaborate on class projects.
