From the desk of Mrs. Aguas:
School closure information is available on radio station KSRV FM 96.1 or AM 1380, or television channels 2, 6, and 7. These stations are contacted immediately after the decision to close school is made.

From the desk of Mrs. Nishizaki:
Dear Parents, We are in need of a child and/or adult wheelchair in good condition. We can provide a donation receipt for tax purposes. Please contact me at 278-5333.

From the desk of Mrs. Arnzen:

It is once again time to think about the New Plymouth Elementary Carnival. We are collecting items for our country store booth. Any items you have laying around collecting dust can be brought in to the school as a donation. Let us help start your spring cleaning frenzy. On the back of the weekly bulletin we listed the classroom baskets for the carnival. (Click here for the complete list.) There is also a request for cake donations. If you are able to donate, please fill out the request on the back of last week’s bulletin (or click here for a copy) and send it back to school with your child. Thank you for your support.

From the desk of Mrs. Nichols:
Idaho Youth Ranch is offering a Coats for Kids Program. If your child is in need of a coat, you can pick up a voucher from Phyllis Nichols, counselor at New Plymouth Elementary. Vouchers are valid at any Treasure Valley Idaho Youth Thrift Store from October 15th to February 15th.

smSki5:6th With the Ski or Ride Free Passport Program, students can stay inside some other day... because THIS winter they can head to one of the participating Ski Idaho mountains (3 times if they are in 5th grade and 2 times if they are in 6th grade) for FREE! Go to SkiIdaho.us for more details and to apply on line! If you need help or more information, email us at info@skiidaho.us.

Students have been working very hard on Study Island. When their grade level reaches 2500 blue ribbons, they receive an Island Party. Please look at the party details and current scores on the bulletin board in the lobby. Students in 3rd through 5th grades can log on at studyisland.com and earn ribbons from home, too. Our first Island Party was Thursday. Congratulations, 5th grade!

School Business:

If any changes have been made to your phone numbers or address, please be sure to also make changes with the school office. Personal information needs to be correct in case of an emergency.

Please remember that the lane in front of the school is for picking up and dropping off students only. If you need to exit your car, you must park in the parking lot and walk your child in. No parking is allowed in the pickup/drop off lane at any time. Also, if you are parking in the parking lot, be sure not to park in the red fire lane.

It is very important for students to have good attendance. Students are only allowed 9 absence days per semester. After nine days absent, each absence must be documented and the attendance committee will review the situation and submit it to the school board for possible action by the Payette County Prosecutor. Parents of kindergarten students need to remember that each day absent for a kindergarten child counts as two absences.

Let the school office know if you change your phone number or home address. In cases of emergency, it is very important to have the correct information. Also, remember to send a note if your child’s after school plans will be different from normal. Only one note for routine changes needs to be sent and will be maintained in our files. Without a note from you regarding a change of plans, the student will be sent home by his or her usual means. If you need to call the office about a change, please call before 1:00 P.M. Students will not be called out of class after 3:00.

New technology is here!

New Plymouth Elementary has 30 new laptops on a rolling cart, featuring wireless connections. This cart can be moved to individual classrooms during the day for student use. We would also like to share the laptops with parents and students in the evenings. The library will be open from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Parents and students can come in and work on Study Island, Reading Eggs, and My Big Campus websites. The library is open to all students in the district. In addition, Mrs. Nichols will be available during Parent/Teacher conferences to teach kids and parents how to use the computers to get online.

Mrs. M/B’s class has been chosen to run a pilot project this year
to incorporate iPod Touches into the curriculum. Each student in the room is expected to
use his or her own iPod Touch to help with schoolwork and collaborate on class projects.
